The Pend Oreille Rowing and Paddling Association (PORPA) acknowledges that we are in the homelands of the Kalispel people. Today, we offer our respect for their history and culture, and for their wisdom in caring for this place for the generations to come.”

Priest River Sprints- 2024

The Pend Oreille Rowing and Paddling Association (PORPA) announces the third annual PORPA SPRINTS on the Priest River at the Priest River Recreation Area (Mudhole) on Saturday 3 August 2024

Bring your kayaks, canoes, stand up paddle boards and rowing shells  for a day of non-motorized fun races. All ages and abilities welcome. The highlight event is a multi-craft relay race. A professional sports photographer will be on the water taking amazing action images of participants while racing!

One of PORPA's goals is to encourage youth enjoyment of our spectacular Inland Northwest water recreation in a safe atmosphere, so youth register and participate for free and receive a free event t-shirt. PORPA now has two youth-sized kayaks for loan to participants under 100 lbs. Prizes awarded to youth racers and the winning relay team. Spectators are welcome, with great viewing of races from the beach and the Hwy 2 bridge.  Registrations will open soon, for information contact [email protected].

PORPA applies donations from businesses and individuals to free registration and t-shirts for all youth, insurance costs, and safety equipment.  Past donors: Kalispel Tribe Charitable Fund, Aerocet, Inc., Eagles Nest Motel, Selkirk Ace Hardware, Priest River Ace Hardware, Priest Gardens, Mary’s Feed, Expect-A-Lot Signs, Synergy Design Studio, Inc., Ivory Dental, J.
